May 26: At eighteen, sent to work with a well-to-do uncle, Phillip had a mystical experience which he called his “conversion”. All taste for earthly things left him and he subsequently made his way to Rome.
December 29: Saint Thomas Becket was a holy bishop who defended the rights of the Church against the King of England. For this he gave his life.
July 26: According to tradition, Our Lady’s parents were Joachim and Anne to whom, after years of childlessness, and much prayer, an angel appeared and announced they would bear a child.
So simple and resounding was Saint Anthony's teaching of the Catholic Faith that even the most unlettered and innocent understood it. He is known as "Doctor of the Church", “Hammer of the Heretics” and "Patron Saint of Lost Articles".
May 22: In religious life Saint Rita of Cascia was a model of virtue, prayer and mortification. She bore Our Lord's wounds on her forehead from the crown of thorns.
September 23: Saint Padre Pio was a Capuchin Franciscan priest and friar who worked miracles, bore the wounds of Our Lord, and experienced spiritual ecstasies.

June 22: Saint Thomas More, Lord Chancellor of England, and Saint John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester, died as martyrs resisting King Henry VIII and the Protestant Reformation.
May 23: Saint John Baptist de Rossi entered the Roman Jesuit College at thirteen. He was ordained a priest at the age of twenty-three.
August 1: Saint Alphonsus received his doctorate at the age of 16. By 19 he was practicing law, but he decided to give his life to God and left the practice to do apostolate.
