November 25: Saint Catherine of Alexandria was a beautiful young woman of great intellect, who defeated numerous pagan philosophers in debate.
April 29: Saint Catherine of Siena was a holy virgin, mystic, and miracle worker who had visions of Our Lord and the Blessed Mother and advised Popes.
February 21: Fasting and prayer were the great hallmarks of Saint Peter Damian's sanctity. He had a great love for those less fortunate than himself, and frequently dined with the poor at his table, serving them with his own hands.
May 26: At eighteen, sent to work with a well-to-do uncle, Phillip had a mystical experience which he called his “conversion”. All taste for earthly things left him and he subsequently made his way to Rome.
December 29: Saint Thomas Becket was a holy bishop who defended the rights of the Church against the King of England. For this he gave his life.
July 26: According to tradition, Our Lady’s parents were Joachim and Anne to whom, after years of childlessness, and much prayer, an angel appeared and announced they would bear a child.
So simple and resounding was Saint Anthony's teaching of the Catholic Faith that even the most unlettered and innocent understood it. He is known as "Doctor of the Church", “Hammer of the Heretics” and "Patron Saint of Lost Articles".
May 22: In religious life Saint Rita of Cascia was a model of virtue, prayer and mortification. She bore Our Lord's wounds on her forehead from the crown of thorns.
September 23: Saint Padre Pio was a Capuchin Franciscan priest and friar who worked miracles, bore the wounds of Our Lord, and experienced spiritual ecstasies.
