January 29: Saint Gildas was educated in Wales under St. Illtud and was the companion of St. Samson and St. Peter of Leon. He eventually became a monk and gathered disciples.

January 27: Saint Angela Merici feared for her sister who died without the sacraments. She was given a vision assuring her sister's salvation.

January 26: Timothy and Titus were two of St. Paul’s favorite and most trusted disciples. Both helped St. Paul resolve disturbances in the early church.

January 25: Saint Paul the Apostle was originally Saul of Tarsus, a zealous pharisee who persecuted and killed Christians, until Our Lord manifested himself to him.

January 24: Saint Francis de Sales was everywhere known for his kindness and patient zeal. He converted several prominent Calvinist preachers.

January 23: During his imprisonment, Saint Vincent, a holy deacon, was promised freedom if he would allow his copy of the Scriptures to be burned. He refused, preferring torture instead.

January 22: Saint Vincent Pallotti was a great exorcist, healed the sick with a word of encouragement or a blessing, and foresaw the future.

January 21: Saint Agnes, an incredibly beautiful woman, pledged herself to Our Lord alone. After denying a powerful suitor, she was sentenced to death. She happily accepted, knowing that her Lord was calling her home.

January 20: Saint Fabian was the first layman ever to be elected Pope and Saint Sebastian was an officer in the Roman Army. Both were martyred for their faith.
