October 26: Saint Cedd, Priest and eventually Bishop, was said to be a man unafraid to confront the powerful. He was said to be proficient in five languages.
October 27: Saint Frumentius, the first Bishop in Ethiopia, was consecrated by St. Athanasius himself. He began the gradual conversion of Ethiopia to Christianity.
October 28: Saint Simon, surnamed the Zealot, and Saint Jude Thaddeus, were two of the Twelve Apostles. After preaching in Egypt, both suffered martyrdom in Syria.
October 29: Saint Narcissus, Bishop of Jerusalem, suffered much from the slander of evil tongues, in spite of his virtues and the miracles attributed to him.
October 30: Saint Alphonsus developed a deep intimacy with God, though he had periods of painful aridity. Every minute that he was not working was dedicated to prayer.
October 31: Saint Wolfgang, although having been appointed a Bishop, continued the austerities of his monastic life.

September 30: Saint Jerome is a Father and Doctor of the Church who is best known for his compiling of the Vulgate version of the Catholic Bible, now the standard edition in use.
October 3: In 1264, Saint Thomas of Cantelupe was appointed Lord Chancellor of England, and was renowned for his prudence, courage, blameless life and scrupulous justice.
